With the entry of big players like Gerber, Morgan Technica and Richpeace, there was lot of new technology in the GTE-’09, especially in CAD/CAM solutions. The key focus of the entire product range was flexibility, interchangeability and compatibility within their software modules as well as with other similar softwares in the market, as the buyer is not sure to have the same CAD/CAM package as the export house has. Each one of the products had their own developments and specific features. Team StitchWorld takes a look at what different products were presented and what their features were.

Gerber: Refining Its Own Excel

Gerber showcased the new ACCUMARK 8.4. The software has been made more user-friendly. Several direct options for various processes like modifying a point or a line have been included in the package. The software has also got features for conversion of file types to DXF (Data Exchange Format) platform which is the AAMA standard common platform for pattern files. The software, unlike any other software in its category, can even convert marker files to other formats as well. Accumark 8.4 comes with a multi-tasking functionality which means that various processes like Digitizing, Plotting and Marker Making can happen simultaneously and independently. The pattern wizard can help in pattern making by simply entering the measurements.

Morgan Technica – Complete Cutting Room Solution

Morgan Technica is an Italian company which provides complete cutting room solutions. The company deals into Product Development, Design Development and Cutting Solutions.

Under production category the company provides a variety of CAD software solutions. MD Pattern Design for example, can be used for on screen pattern development, Grading and Marker Making.

The unique feature of the software is that the company has replaced the traditional digitizing board with a new camera system. So, in order  to scan a pattern just a camera click is what it would take. The camera is operated by MD Visual Software.

The 5 cm X 5 cm grid paper which is placed behind the patterns when their pictures are clicked, takes care of the calibrations which might be required due to linear and angular distortions.

Morgan’s Marker making software named MD Best Nest is the only software which can make automated markers for tubular fabrics. In other softwares, the markers for tubular fabrics are made using half patterns which are then cut on the tubular fabric. “Our software enables the user to define a foldline for the tubular fabrics, the patterns which fall on the foldline are automatically folded in the marker, eliminating the need of making the half markers.” he says.

All the Morgan softwares are compatible with every other software module available in the market, for example Lectra, Gerber, Optitex, etc. All the Morgan softwares can easily connect to other company’s CAD hardware, and can even produce files which are compatible with them. Thus, even if the buyer has Gerber software and you have a Morgan one, you can still export them in the compatible files and send it to him. Even the cameras work with any other module of any other CAD softwares available in the market.

The company also came up with Morgan Razor 70 cutting machine which is a new line of automated cutters with an innovative inversion controlled vacuum system which automatically adjusts power consumption in accordance with the number of plies being cut.
