It is undeniable fact that Bangladesh has reached a superior position in garment manufacturing. The sector is the main revenue-generating source for the country which employs millions of workers churning out garments day in and day out to take industry forward. With this massive availability of workforce, the country is also directing towards imbibing more automation than ever and increasing productivity in minimum cost possible. Skylark Soft Limited is one such company which is creating dynamic business impact with its innovative and intuitive solutions for all digital essentials within a garment factory. The company’s product PROTRACKER is making headlines in the industry for all good reasons.

BM Shorif, CEO, Skylark Soft Limited, informed Apparel Resources, “PROTRACKER is fully customisable and cloud-based real-time production tracking software for apparel industry that manages the entire production process – right from managing order details to production, shipping to invoicing which can be completely integrated with any other management software.”

This is a complete solution from cutting to finishing. The biggest issue a factory can face is the management of unstructured data within different departments which causes anomaly in long run. Despite Bangladesh having a strong manufacturing base, it still counts among those countries which work on low efficiency and productivity. PROTRACKER is the first ‘Made in Bangladesh’ cloud-based software for production tracking has solution for this prolonged challenge. Shorif claimed that, using PROTRACKER, factories can increase their productivity by around 15 per cent within months of implementation. We take only 1 month for implementing PROTRACKER successfully in a factory.

Explaining more about how this system works, Shorif said that an operator just inserts basic order information like buyers’ details, order, colours, and sizes during pre-production phase. After receiving lay chart from cutting table, the operator further generates barcode enabled bundle card. “Once bundle cards are printed, he binds this bundle card to fabric bundle. All kinds of report in between these processes will auto-generate in our system,” underlined Shorif, adding, “After that QC Inspectors check those reports and bundle and send them to cutting inventory/sewing input.” Further, automated challan can be printed after scanning bundles and passing those through print/embroidery.

The operator can put rejection quantity if he gets any rejection from print/embroidery/washing/sewing and all the final reports can be generated in PROTRACKER. “There are two barcodes in our system: one is for original part and other is for rejected work piece. When you scan this particular portion or barcode, a popup will be there which will show how many rework and rejection pieces are there in the bundle,” shared Md. Maruf Hossain, ERP Analyst, Skylark Soft Limited.

However, the most difficult part for a technology supplier is to convince the end-user to adopt their products. Talking about the barriers, Shorif averred that today’s cut-throat competition in apparel manufacturing doesn’t let factories to invest in automation and high-end production tracking system but it’s the only way forward. “In Bangladesh, some factory owners think that manual way of working is good and this is how they have been doing business since decades but, today or tomorrow, they have invest in technologies so why not start from today,” questioned Shorif.

Currently, Bangladesh is the only country where PROTRACKER is making its space; however, Skylark is aggressively working to broaden its horizon. It has plans to working with overseas manufacturing companies located in countries such as India, Vietnam and Indonesia. “We have implemented our solution in 13 factories in Bangladesh right now and factories such as Mondol Group, Dekko Group, GMS Composite Knitting Ind. Ltd., Padma Textiles and so on are our clients. We are hopeful to take this number to 50 by the end of this year,” concluded Shorif optimistically.
