Good Earth made its debut at the LFW ’18 after a decade with its first-ever couture collection – The Miniaturist, since the launch of its clothing line Sustain.
Exemplifying slow fashion, the collection boasts of an assortment of 27 unique pieces designed by Namratha Rathi. The fruit of the creative vision of Anita Lal, Founder & Creative Director, Good Earth, and Deepshikha Khanna, Head of Apparel line Sustain, the collection is handcrafted to perfection by artisans of Jaipur.
The Lead Designer at Good Earth, Pavitra Rajaram used the premises of the brand’s Raghuvanshi Mills flagship store to showcase ‘The Miniaturist’, taking the audience through the journey of revival of Gota.
The wedding ensembles presented in the line are inspired by century old attires beautifully balanced with a subtle touch of contemporary sensibility using the interplay of colour and diaphanous silhouettes. The rich colour story of imitating jewel hues of amethyst and aquamarine set against the luxurious fabrics of Silk Kota, Gajji Silk and Mashru created a fluid confluence of art and fashion.
The brand’s homage to traditional Gota craft was hard to miss as Good Earth pushed the norms of vintage Gota techniques to unveil a line of Gota accessories such as the Bajubandh, Jhoomar, Borla, ear cuffs, Potlis, etc.
Classic silhouettes laced with Rajasthani heritage such as the Jama, the Ghagra-Choli, and even the glamorous polo saris were given a modern edge to suit the aspirations of the modern bride. The appreciative audience witnessed the revival of archetypal techniques of Patka (sash) and Patua (tassels), hand cut motifs of Chaand, Anaar and Baadal in 3-D textures, delicate artistry of floral thread work, geometric Jaal patterns, aari & danka work.
With live vocals by Suchismita Das, the vision of the models flaunting the ensembles in diverse intimate settings was the one to behold, making this show an all-senses invoking experience for the audience.
