Larger the venue, larger the impact and with IMG Reliance as the host, the sky is the limit. Enter into a visual playground complete with gigantic installations in neutral colour palette setting the tone for Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018 edition, as Apparel Resources observed while being there.

A central seating area boasts of waves of fabric swaying overhead a larger than life birdcage entwined with florals under which guests excitedly share their collection notes, insider jokes and more serious concerns related to the impact of Government’s policies on the industry while sipping on their choice of poison.

The vibe is excited, curious and serious— serious for what is to come next and how designers are planning to reinvent themselves leaving behind their set mood of old, confirmed traditions for the New India — and if they are planning this change at all.

The Day 1 of the fashion week turned out to be impressive as compared to past seasons and rival fashion weeks with editors, writers, bloggers, street-style photographers and bloggers all making the most of this 5-day fashion extravaganza.

A larger space also calls for a larger exhibit and this time around, Lakmé Fashion Week has almost 100 designers and brands showcasing their talent to international and domestic buyers in an attempt to seal deals. 100 is quite an impressive number and goes on to tell a story of how Indian fashion has evolved and made a mark for itself over the years, to incur such a demand.

It remains to be seen how profitable a decision this has been, which we shall leave for our Day 4 or Day 5 review where we round up the 5-day fashion bacchanal… Check this space for more! For now, we leave you with a few insights on designer collections we personally feel are going to impact the future of Indian fashion, from Day 1 at Lakmé Fashion Week 2018:
